Some of What We Do
Most of our activities are held during the day on weekdays, when at-home moms need the most support. However, moms who work outside the home are welcome to join and may attend any activities that fit their schedule. Our events are casual; come when you can, leave when you want! Your children are welcome at all of our activities.
Babysitting Co-op
We trade babysitting services with other moms we know and trust. Points are "earned" and "spent" within the co-op. Members meet monthly to maintain relationships and coordinate this sub-group. Only chapter members may participate.
Clothing & Toy Swaps
We bring our outgrown, gently used baby, kid, and maternity items and swap them for some that are new-to-us. We have fun, then donate the "extras" to a local charity.
Field Trips
Once a month we take the kids on a mini-adventure (berry picking, bounce house, pumpkin patch, zoo, museum, etc.). We try to accommodate all ages of children whenever possible. Most field trips are low or no cost. All field trips are a lot of fun!
Focused Discussions
Ever wonder how other moms handle potty training, sleep habits, picky eating, traveling with kids? Our discussion groups give moms a chance to share advice, how-to's, and resources on various topics while the kids play.
General Meeting / Member Social
Once a month we all meet to discuss upcoming activities and related business, plan next month's calendar, and socialize with new members and old friends. This is our membership's opportunity to vote on club activities and projects, and it gives visitors a chance to meet everyone and see how our club works.
Holiday Parties & Special Events
Holiday parties and special events are done potluck style and include: Ice Cream Social, Halloween Costume Party, New-Member Tea, Easter Egg Hunt, Mother’s Day Brunch, Spring Planting, Summer BBQ, Christmas Party, Summer Kiddie Pool Party, Family Movie Night, etc...
Members-Only Website
We have our own private place on the Internet. It is a password protected online community where we RSVP to activities, share ideas, swap opinions, post classifieds, ask for and give recommendations, and much, much more. This site allows us to communicate daily and it's a great way to stay connected and catch up with club happenings after the kids are in bed!
Mom's Night Out
Once a month we get together in a member’s home, restaurant, the movies, or wherever we decide, to chat and unwind. This is very informal and a great way to get to know each other better. Most often moms choose to leave the little ones at home for this activity. However, nursing babies are always welcome.
Morning Coffee
At least once a month we meet at a local cafe or member's home for conversation and caffeine! This is a very popular activity for moms adjusting to that no-sleep phase of motherhood and moms with lap babies. (Moms with older kids often just stop by to get caffeinated before heading off to the park!)
Music & Movement Class
Once a month we are joined by local musician and music instructor Lisa Phenix who leads us in a morning of music, movement, and fun for kids of all ages.
Playgroups
This is a great opportunity to get your child together with a smaller group of kids! We have multiple playgroups, some organized by age, some by schedule. Each mom decides which group works best for her and is welcome to attend any or all playgroups.
Park Day
At least once a month we get together at a local park and let the kids play! We meet at a different park each month with a blanket for sitting and a picnic lunch or snack. Moms with blanket babies get to socialize; moms with older kids get some exercise!
Philanthropy
To keep our nonprofit status we are obliged to complete at least one charitable service project annually benefiting children. After that, we can undertake more service projects, as agreed by our group. Ideas for service projects are gladly accepted and should be given to the Administrative Vice President.
